About Us

The Lived Experience Advocacy Network is a national, constituent-led community of organizers, storytellers, and policy shapers who share the experience of homelessness. We are independent and nonpartisan. Our purpose is to build power with people who have lived experience so communities can secure stable homes and thrive.

Our Vision Statement

As a cohort we will all be LEANing on each other to support each other. We will share resources and opportunities. We will use our collective voices, minds, and spirits to reduce misconceptions surrounding homelessness while guiding our country forward to new/improved homelessness prevention and response strategies that are grounded in the experiences of the unhoused/unstably housed.

About the Lived Experience Advocacy Network

Who we are

The Lived Experience Advocacy Network is a national, constituent-led community of organizers, storytellers, dissenters. and policy shapers who share the experience of homelessness. We are independent and nonpartisan. Our purpose is to build power with people who have lived experience so communities can secure stable homes and thrive.

What we do

  • Convene and organize collective action nationally. We bring together lived experience leaders across the country for regular virtual gatherings, peer learning, and strategy share-outs.

  • Protest and dissent. We provide our collective resources and love to support protest, dissent, and collective action.

  • Grow leadership. We develop skills in advocacy, facilitation, public speaking, and co-design so members can influence policy, practice, and funding decisions where they live.

  • Resource exchange. We maintain and curate a library of tools, templates, and guides that members and partners can use immediately.

  • Connect opportunities. Our engagement board lifts up roles where lived experience is valued, and creates a direct line between institutions and community leaders.

  • Narrative and policy strategy. We advance messages that center dignity, community well-being, and solutions, and we coordinate collective actions that move policy.

How we work

  • Led by people with lived experience. Members set priorities, shape campaigns, and guide partnerships.

  • Trauma-informed and welcoming. We design spaces that are relational, respectful, and accessible.

  • Independent and nonpartisan. We collaborate across sectors while maintaining our own voice and values.
